Dehney Earns All-American Honors at NCWWC Nationals

Freshman Jaclyn Dehney (Pelham, N.H.) of the New England College women’s wrestling team earned National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) All-American accolades on Saturday, March 8, at the NCWWC National Championships at the Xtreme Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
Dehney, having reached the quarterfinals of the 131-pound championship bracket on Friday before suffering just her first loss of the season, opened her day with a 25-18 win by fall in just 1:40 over Hannah Palise (Warren, Mich.) of Grand Valley State in the fourth round of the consolation bracket. In doing so, Dehney effectively clinched a top-eight finish in the tournament, ensuring her status as an All-American.
In the fifth round, Dehney took just her second loss of the season, losing to Cayden Condit (Littleton, Colo.) of Lindenwood University by fall in 1:19.
Finally, in the seventh place match, Dehney concluded her season on a high-note, prevailing by fall in 3:34 against Ragan Retell (Troy, N.Y.) of Elmira College.
Dehney concludes her season with a sensational 32-2 record after going 4-2 overall at the Nationals.
In just their second season as a varsity team, the NEC women’s wrestling team sent two student-athletes to Nationals. As the program begins transitioning into a full-fledged NCAA sport, their future looks bright. Congratulations to all the Pilgrims for an outstanding year.
